hexecaChapter 0: Prologue
The prologue was told through a boy's story-telling to his younger brother.
The story he told, believed as a mere legend, was about how the First King to hold the Sign of King loved his people so much, he would go as far as creating a Shield for them. However, even with the Sign of King, the King failed in doing so, for he overestimated his capabilities and what should have been the Shield became a monster--the Beast--instead, that not even its creator could stop with his Superior Magic. Humanity had been in an age of despair since then, until one of them stood up against the Beast. At first, most of the people didn't put much trust in her, but then she pulled out another Sign of King, and the once pessimistic people turned supportive to her. In the end, Moira--the one who stood up--ultimately defeated the Beast, and was hailed as Hexeca--a title for heroes, meaning "hope". After that, as a celebration and expression of gratitude, the First King invited Moira over dinner, seemingly unaffected by his people who wanted to dethrone him for his incompetence and crown Moira. However, several moments later, both the First King and Moira never came out from the castle as the First King promised, and everyone had grown suspicious of this, so they broke into the castle, only to find out that the Hexeca was petrified and the First King was missing. They concluded that the First King was responsible for this and hunted for him... and the story ended just like that, no real resolve whether the First King was ever found guilty or not.
The younger brother commented how it was a sad end for a hero and that the Hexeca didn't deserve it.
The setting then changed to about 1000 years prior, in a castle, a girl with unusual physical features (white hair and red eyes, namely) was being approached by a masked man, asking her if she had another Sign of King (she answered with a simple no, with a wrought-up face), before asking again if she wanted to join him. When the girl was about to answer, Moira suddenly appeared to stop them, telling the man to get off Aima, her friend. Unexpected to Moira though, Aima told Moira to stop doing what she was doing too, and both of them got into an argument. Moira thought that humans always use each other as a tool for their own benefit, to which Aima replied that Moira was no different; she was a human, and she did think she knew everything, especially about Aima. In the end, Aima used her Magic (which was impossible to people without Sign of King) to turn Moira to crystal, saying that Moira "don't know what it takes to change this world for the better" and "will see how the world will change in her (Aima's) hands in the future". The man just observed and noted that it was interesting, while leaving the petrified Moira alone. Aima slowly and silently followed the man, looking sad.

In the current timeline, Moira was freed from Aima's spell and surprised to see how much the world changed... the castle had become ruins surrounded by forest. A monster (akin to the Beast, just much, much smaller in size and power) attacked her right when she walked around to observe, but she couldn't fight back when she realised she didn't have her Sign of King with her. Then she remembered how Aima used Magic without Sign of King, and she had told her that the key was to focus the eons around her, so not knowing what to do, Moira resorted to try this method... to no avail. Thankfully, a man arrived in time to shoot the monster, and even though it didn't kill it, at least it hurt it enough for Moira to take the time to use her kicks to finally beat it down.
